By default, Cyber Shards is a Heroic level campaign providing the default 4,000 coins (in this case, they are called marks) starting money. In addition, Benefits such as Authority (OPs x30), Family (OPs x40), Resources (OPs x 100), and of course Wealth (OPs x 500) can add to this amount, as per the usual Shards rules. Equipment should be purchased using this beginning money, or the money can be stashed away for use later. If you think your character should start with equipment they could not normally afford, check with the GM to see if you can start with the item anyway.
